Seb Spencer's passion for horse racing was sparked at just six years old, when he moved to South Carolina with his mother, a skilled jockey for renowned trainer Janet Elliott. Coming from a family with deep-rooted ties to the equine industry, Seb’s path in horse racing seemed almost inevitable. With a talented jockey mother, an influential aunt, Penny Bycroft, and a legendary grandfather, trainer Neville Bycroft, his early years were steeped in the sport's tradition and discipline. Inspired by this heritage, Seb was set on making his own mark.

Guided by his grandfather, who had over 30 years of experience training winners, Seb absorbed invaluable knowledge and skill from a master of the sport. At 16, Seb made a bold choice—he left school to dive fully into his passion, launching his career as an amateur jockey. His dedication quickly bore fruit, notching three wins on Lucayan Dancer at Newmarket, Umverti at Pontefract, and Eeny Mac at Redcar—all trained by his grandfather.

Following his riding success, Seb transitioned into an assistant trainer role, where he further refined his expertise. In 2018, he took a pivotal step and earned his trainer's license, marking the start of his journey as an independent trainer. His talent has been underscored by consistent results, including a recent win with Archduke Ferdinand in the Jennings Bet Grey Horse Handicap at Newmarket, and an impressive streak of three doubles in just eight weeks. Notably, Seb holds a perfect record of 2-for-2 when training and riding his own horse.

Today, Seb is a highly regarded trainer and a co-owner of Eco-Power Racing, a dynamic team that competes nationwide. His commitment and achievements signal a bright future, as he continues to build on his family’s legacy, training winners and pushing boundaries within the world of British Horse Racing.
